My 🖐️Computer Vision Hobby Projects that Yielded Earnings?
Computer Vision has been undergoing rapid advancements in the market, increasingly automating tasks previously done manually. This trend has gained significance in recent years, as numerous technology companies are integrating computer vision into their products, with many already utilizing it.

During the years 2022–23, I delved into various computer vision techniques, such as image classification, image recognition, object detection, object segmentation, object tracking, and many others. In this article, I’m excited to share my top five hobby projects, which have also generated financial returns for me.
Alright, it’s time to begin our journey 🚀
1- Football Player Detection and Tracking
Before embarking on this project, I didn’t have a strong inclination towards Messi and Ronaldo, but that changed as I found myself watching a football match one day, sparking an idea. This prompted me to delve deeper into understanding football matches and exploring ways to incorporate computer vision technology into them.
The journey began with data collection and finding match recordings from platforms like YouTube and Pixels. My team and I annotated around 3,000 images, a process that took approximately a week. Subsequently, I initiated the model training, and to my delight, the initial results proved to be exceptionally promising. Furthermore, I integrated a tracking module to monitor player movements, enhancing the project’s capabilities.

I shared this project on LinkedIn in July 2022, and I have received three offers related to this work since then. This project turned out to be an enjoyable endeavor, and during its development, I had not initially considered how to market it or generate income from it. Instead, my primary goal was to enhance my problem-solving skills for real-world computer vision challenges.
2- Fish Detection in Sea
The primary objective of this project is to monitor fish activity in specific marine areas, with the aim of…
